Summary:
- This is a copy of a personal letter from Prime Minister Churchill to Field Marshal Dill. Churchill says that General Wilson is preparing an evaluation of the Italian battle for the Combined Chiefs of Staff. Meanwhile, Churchill asked Wilson privately three questions about apparent mistakes, and gives Dill the answers he got from Wilson. This has disappointed Churchill. However, he sees it as an advantage that the enemy should come in strength in South Italy in order to be drawn from the other battlefield. Moreover the Allies neeed to engage the enemy and even a battle of attrition is better than sitting by and watching the Russians Fight. He says they should also learn a good many lessons about hot not do it for Overlord.
